Port of Oakland Adds to Leadership Team

The Oakland Board of Port Commissioners has approved hiring a new Social Responsibility Division director and a new chief technology officer.

As SRD director, Amy Tharpe will partner with community and businesses to promote positive social and economic changes and develop a social responsibility strategy for the port. Tharpe managed San Francisco’s HOPE SF initiative before joining the port. She also has served as director of policy and planning for the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and held positions with other governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Puccinelli, the port’s new CTO, will be charged with providing leadership for the port's Information Technology Division, focusing on the integration and performance of Oracle enterprise resource planning and technology to support the port’s strategic plan. He has served as director of information technology for the City of Concord since October 2001.

“I look forward to working with our two new team members to continue the Port's transition to a new era of transparency, accountability, and innovative public sector leadership,” Deborah Ale Flint, the port's acting executive director, said in a written statement. “The Port must be a leader in both technology and social responsibility to best accomplish our mission as stewards of the incredible public asset that is the Port of Oakland.”

Tharpe and Puccinelli will officially start with the port at the beginning of April.
