Port of Milwaukee's expanded foreign trade zone. The Port of Milwaukee, the grantee of Foreign-Trade Zone 41, has been approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce Foreign-Trade Zone Board to serve a wider area of southeastern Wisconsin through an “alternative site framework.”
The decision allows the port to provide services to businesses in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Washington, Ozaukee, Jefferson, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Rock, Walworth, Racine and Kenosha counties.
Congress created the FTZ program in 1934 to reduce or eliminate certain trade costs that don’t exist in foreign locations, to encourage companies’ expansion in the U.S.
