Nov 29, 2012

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The JAXUSA Partnership, Northeast Florida’s regional economic development initiative, today named JAXPORT CEO Paul Anderson the 2012 Individual International Business Leader of the Year.

JAXUSA recognized Anderson for leading JAXPORT’s growth, building a solid foundation for the future and helping to increase Jacksonville’s profile in the international business community.

Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown commended Anderson’s tireless promotion of international trade and mentioned his work attracting funding for an intermodal rail facility at Dames Point and the progress being made in removing the Mile Point navigational restriction. During Anderson’s tenure, Jacksonville has grown into the highest volume cargo container port complex in Florida.

“I accept this prestigious award on behalf of the talented men and women of JAXPORT and our many valued partners in business and government,” Anderson said.  “When I came to Jacksonville nearly two years ago, I said port progress couldn’t be about one man. I said it would have to be a team effort. Clearly, the business community in Jacksonville has taken that message to heart.”

Florida Governor Rick Scott and Congressman John Mica, Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee both expressed their own gratitude for Anderson’s exceptional leadership of the port.
