Port of Fernandina Director Val Schwec Elected Chairman of the Florida Ports Council

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 14, 2013) – At the Florida Ports Council Annual Board Meeting this week in Pensacola, Port of Fernandina Director Val Schwec was elected chairman as PortMiami Director Bill Johnson’s term as chairman ended as of this meeting. The Florida Ports Council is the professional association of Florida’s 15 public seaports, providing advocacy, leadership and research on seaport-related issues at the state and federal level.

“Director Schwec has been an invaluable member of the Florida Ports Council and his extensive experience will be a great asset to our organization,” said Doug Wheeler, president and CEO of the Florida Ports Council. “We look forward to continuing our leadership role in positioning Florida as a global hub for trade.”
