Port Everglades’ Foreign Trade Zone No. 25 in Florida was ranked as the top foreign trade zone in the U.S. for exports (warehousing and distribution activity) in 2011, according to the Foreign-Trade Zones Board’s 73rd annual report to Congress.
The report showed that FTZ No. 25 experienced a 68 percent increase in merchandise received during 2011, while exports from the zone increased by 66 percent from the previous year. In 2011, merchandise received and exported from the zone reached $3.7 billion and $3.6 billion respectively.
Rounding out the top five zones for exports (warehousing and distribution activity) were FTZ No. 68, in El Paso, Texas; FTZ No. 26 in Atlanta, Ga.; FTZ No. 62, in Brownsville, Texas; and FTZ No. 114, in Peoria, Ill.
