The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey ordered the evacuation of all the maritime terminals in New Jersey on Monday as Hurricane Sandy move closer to landfall on Monday afternoon.
As part of the evacuation, port authority police and civilian officials confirmed that no tenants remained on port properties.
The port agency said the orderly evacuation was completed at noon and that port authority police will remain on the property.
It said any employees at the New Jersey marine terminals should contact their employers before returning to the facilities.
All the marine terminals in New York harbor remained closed, as were terminals at other ports as far south as Virginia.
