Guy Tozzoli, who helped develop the first purpose-built container terminal and oversaw construction of the WorldTradeCenter, died Saturday of natural causes in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was 90.
Mr. Tozzoli joined the Port of New York Authority, later renamed the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in 1946. Following naval service in the Korean War, he worked as an engineer on development of the first purpose-built container terminal, at Elizabeth, N.J.
He later oversaw construction of the trade center’s twin towers. After retiring from the port authority in 1987, he remained president of the World Trade Centers Association, which he founded in 1970 to promote world peace through trade and prosperity.
