Three New Members to Join NC Ports Authority Board

Wilmington — Chairman Danny McComas and the members of the North Carolina State Ports Authority Board of Directors will welcome three new members at its regularly scheduled meeting today.

“North Carolina Ports are committed to supporting the State’s economy by providing a gateway to the global marketplace. Each of these new members brings a wealth of experience and business knowledge that will serve the Ports well as we continue our work in helping our state meet the demands of a global economy,” Chairman McComas said.

Joining the Board today:

Tom Adams, the President and CEO of Adams Building and Consulting Company, LLC. He has extensive experience in construction management, development and general construction. He currently serves on the Brunswick County Economic Development Commission, the South Brunswick Islands Small Business Alliance, the South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club and the Cape Fear Council Boy Scouts of America Executive Board. He was appointed to the Board by N.C. House of Representatives Speaker Thom Tillis.

Bill Keadey, a Certified Public Accountant from Emerald Isle. He enjoyed a long professional career with nationally-known financial consulting firm Deloitte, serving as partner in both the Dayton, Ohio and the Raleigh offices. He currently serves on the Emerald Isle Planning Board and has served on various committees and boards such as the Chamber of Commerce, Food Bank, United Way, the Triangle Foundation, and the Dayton Engineers Club. He was appointed to the Board by the Governor.

Bill McMahon, the Founder, President and CEO of CoaLogix (owner of SCR-Tech). He has served as president of SCR-Tech since 2005. He joined SCR-Tech with 28 years of business operations, sales, marketing and engineering experience in the energy and utility industries. Prior to joining SCR-Tech, Mr. McMahon participated in the start-up and financing of two coal-based companies (Great Point Energy and Coaltek). He was appointed to the Board by the Governor.

The 11 people on the Board of Directors governing the NC State Ports Authority are responsible for staying informed on world trade and economic trends and developments, and making informed decisions about the Ports’ operation.

Of the Board, six members are appointed by the Governor, four are appointed by the General Assembly and the last position is filled by the NC Secretary of Transportation. The Board meets approximately six times per year. North Carolina Ports is a body corporate receiving no direct tax payer subsidy.
