The Jacksonville Port Authority has joined the Coalition for Responsible Transportation to collaborate with cargo owners, trucking companies, ocean carriers and CRT’s partner organizations, including Environmental Defense Fund and the Retail Industry Leaders Association, to identify and implement best practices to reduce port-related diesel emissions.
“We see great value in CRT’s work, and we’re committed to the group’s goal of going above and beyond to reduce our impact while increasing employment and our economic contributions to North Florida,” said Roy Schleicher, Jaxport’s interim CEO, in a written statement.
In 2012, Jaxport facilities handled 8.2 million tons of cargo, including nearly 1 million cargo containers, according to the company’s press release.
