The Georgia Ports Authority board of directors recently approved $2 million of project funding to increase Savannah's capacity, efficiency and flexibility for heavy machinery exports.

The project will provide greater capacity in moving oversized roll-on, roll-off cargo at the Port of Savannah’s Ocean Terminal, said Curtis Foltz, GPA’s executive director.

The project’s funding, now totaling nearly $5 million, is dedicated to high-density paving to support such loads.
