U.S. Representatives Janice Hahn, D-Calif., and Ted Poe, R-Texas, will receive the American Association of Port Authorities’ “Port Persons of the Year” award during the association’s annual spring conference on March 19 in Washington, D.C.
The AAPA selected Reps. Hahn and Poe to receive the award based on their “strong commitment to advancing the issues of the port industry and their co-founding of the PORTS Caucus,” which brings together lawmakers to strengthen and secure U.S. ports.
Nominated last fall for the award by both the California ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as Texas’s Port of Beaumont, the AAPA’s executive committee approved Reps. Hahn and Poe’s nominations at its January meeting in Florida.
