P&O Maritime Wins Contract in Mozambique

P&O Maritime FZE claims it will boost supply chain and port service efficiency in Mozambique after securing a marine services contract at the growing port of Maputo.

The company, which is wholly-owned by port operator DP World, will provide management, pilotage, mooring, crewing and maintenance services at Maputo, which is a major export gateway for Mozambique and parts of South Africa.

Under the agreement P&O Maritime has committed to investing in new, “state of the art” assets as well as training and developing local staff over a period of 10 years.

Gary Dockerty, Executive General Manager, P&O Maritime, Middle East and Africa said the company would contribute to improving supply chain efficiency and supporting the expansion of Mozambique’s economy.

“P&O Maritime plans to develop a pool of maritime personnel working in partnerships with local stakeholders for the benefit of Mozambique,” he added.
