A maintenance worker at Maher Terminals in Port Elizabeth, N.J., admitted his role in soliciting and accepting bribes to award contracts for demolition and construction projects at the terminal.
Donald Olesky, 54, pleaded guilty this week to two counts of commercial bribery in U.S. District Court in Trenton.
Olesky was director of facility maintenance at Maher Terminals from 2000 through February 2007. According to documents filed in the case, Olesky solicited and accepted more than $50,000 in kickbacks from a demolition contractor in exchange for assistance in steering and awarding demolition contracts at the terminal.
The two counts Olesky pleaded guilty to each carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross amount of any gain Olesky derived from his offenses. He is scheduled for sentencing on May 11, 2012.
