John Nardi, a longtime official at Hapag-Lloyd (America), has joined the New York Shipping Association as executive vice president.
Nardi held a series of positions with Hapag-Lloyd, most recently as senior vice president of corporate operations for the carrier’s Americas region.
He began his career with Atlantic Container Line in 1984 after graduating from the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler and earning his third mate’s license.
His experience at ACL included the company’s trucking division, Atlantic Coast Express; its terminal operating affiliate, Atlantic Coast Stevedores; and ACL’s liner business, where he was general manager of liner and terminal operations.
Nardi has served on the boards of United States Maritime Alliance and Consolidated Chassis Management, as chairman of the Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association and as a working group member of the World Shipping Council.
At NYSA, he will be a trustee on a number of trust funds and boards jointly operated by the employer group and the International Longshoremen’s Association.
