James K. Lyons, long-time head of the Port of Mobile, returned to work on Friday after a temporary leave of absence.
The Alabama State Port Authority’s board of directors voted unanimously Friday morning to return him as director and CEO of the Alabama Port Authority.
“I am really gratified by the full board’s support of my request for leave and my management team’s stewardship of the port during my temporary leave of absence,” Lyons said. “I am really looking forward to getting back in the saddle.”
The port authority board had granted Lyons a temporary leave of absence on Aug. 10 and appointed H.S. “Smitty” Thorne acting director.
