ILA Sets April 9 Ratification Vote

TAMPA, Fla. — The International Longshoremen’s Association has scheduled an April 9 ratification vote on a coastwide master contract that ILA and United States Maritime Alliance officials have agreed upon.

About 14,500 ILA members are eligible to vote on the six-year contract and on supplemental local agreements covering work rules and other port-specific issues.

The ILA and USMX agreed on the contract Thursday in Tampa, Fla., at meetings of the union’s 200-member wage scale committee.

Wage scale delegates approved the contract with only a handful of dissents. ILA President Harold Daggett has endorsed the agreement. He and other top union officials predict the agreement will win easy approval.
