The National Retail Federation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association today welcomed the news that the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will resume operations, following an agreement between the Office Clerical Unit of International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 63 and the ports’ Harbor Employers Association.
Retailers will now turn their attention to the Gulf and East Coast ports, where federal mediators have been in discussions with labor and management for two months, said Matthew Shay, NRF’s president and CEO, in a written statement.
The contract extension for the Gulf and East Coast ports ends Dec. 29, RILA said.
