A suspended pier superintendent at Maher Terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey pleaded guilty to a federal charge of illegal bookmaking using Internet sites and 1-800 telephone numbers.
Joseph Joel DiCosta was ordered to pay $100,000 in restitution and faces up to 18 months in prison. His sentencing is scheduled Sept. 21.
The Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor suspended DiCosta's license as a pier superintendent after his arrest last December.
