A dockworker was killed Wednesday night at the Port Newark Container Terminal in New Jersey after she was pinned between two containers.
Earline Brundage, a 47-year-old member of the International Longshoreman’s Association, was killed after something went wrong while a crane was lifting one of the bus-sized steel boxes, said Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Port Authority Police. He said investigators were looking into whether there was a power or mechanical failure or some other type of problem.
Brundage was taken to University Hospital in Newark, when she was pronounced dead at 8:43 p.m., shortly after the accident occurred at PNCT. Brundage worked as a longshoreman, and was a member of ILA Local 1233, said James McNamara, a national spokesman for the union.
