Port Metro Vancouver’s Corridor Project Applauded

Ed Fast, Canada’s minister of international trade and minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway; Robin Silvester, president and CEO of Port Metro Vancouver; and other terminal and railway partners have applauded the construction of the South Shore Corridor Project at Port Metro Vancouver.

The project will separate road and rail traffic at 10 current conflict points along Stewart Street, adjacent to Port Metro Vancouver’s terminals and the South Shore Trade Area’s railways corridor. The project will also provide associated intersection and roadway improvements, as well as corridor-wide improvements, such as upgraded signage and the installation of intelligent transportation systems.

"By enhancing the overall operations and roadway efficiency and safety for truck traffic involved in the movement of international trade through the South Shore Trade Area, as well as provide space for increased rail capacity, this project is helping to increase Canada's exports to fast-growing Asian markets," Fast said in a written statement.
