Halliburton plans to build a sand storage facility for the oil and gas industry on a 54-acre site at a Colorado industrial park where Musket Corp. recently announced a “pipeline by rail” terminal for unit trains of oil.
Construction of a sand terminal at Great Western Industrial Park at Windsor, Colo., is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of this year, Hallburton said. The new facilities will serve energy production in the Denver-Julesburg Basin and Niobrara Formation in Colorado.
Roughly 320 acres of the 1,800-acre industrial park were acquired recently by Windsor Renewal 1, an affiliate of the Broe Group. Broe’s transportation affiliate, OmniTRAX, manages 17 regional and short-line railroads in 11 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. Broe also is affiliated with Great Western Oil & Gas Co.
Musket's crude-oil export terminal will have an initial loading capacity of 5.8 million barrels a year and is designed for expansion.
