The Port of Marseilles Fos Authority in France reported container throughput rose 13 percent in 2012 to a record 1.1 million 20-foot-equivalent units, driven primarily by a 16 percent surge in deep-sea volume.

The volume of containers handled by the Port of Marseilles Fos grew 14 percent in the first half year year-over-year, while the twin ports’ overall tonnage fell because of shrinking oil volume.
