European Port Community Systems Association Appoints Chairman, Vice Chairman

The European Port Community Systems Association has appointed Alan Long, managing director of Felixstowe, England-based Maritime Cargo Processing, as chairman, and Piet Jan ten Thije, strategy and business director of Rotterdam, the Netherlands-based Portbase, as vice chairman.

The association, which aims to influence public policy in the European Union in order to achieve e-logistics throughout all European ports, has also launched “Message Standards in the EU,” a reference guide summary to help port operators identify electronic standards currently in use in the EU.

The new chairman and vice chairman take over from Pascal Ollivier, director of corporate development at SOGET in France, who was EPCSA’s founding chairman, and Evelyn Eggers, sales department director at DAKOSY in Germany, who was vice chairman.
