Container volume through the Port of Charleston grew 7.4 percent in the first half of this year, the South Carolina Ports Authority said.
Volume from during the fiscal year ended June 30 increased 3.5 percent to 1.43 million 20-foot-equivalent units. April-June represented the port’s highest-volume quarter for container traffic in three years.
July cargo volume totaled 131,767 TEUs, a 16 percent year-over-year increase aided by new shipping services through the port.
