China’s Tianjin Port Group and Singapore-based global container terminal operator PSA International have signed an agreement to further develop Tianjin Port into a leading gateway to North East Asia.
PSA has already invested in two of state-owned TPG’s projects - Tianjin Port Pacific International Container Terminal and Tianjin Port Alliance International Container Terminal - at the northern China hub. Together the facilities have 10 berths and can handle the world’s largest container ships.
Tian Chang Song, group president of TPG, said the deal would cement both companies’ commitment to Tianjin Port becoming a world class facility for global container shipping.
“Both organizations recognize the tremendous potential of Tianjin Port as a major container hub port in the Bohai Rim to support the further development of industries and hinterland investments in Northeast China,” he added.
