China’s top container ports booked March throughput growth of 4.2 percent compared with the same month in 2015. The country’s top eight ports handled a combined 12.45 million twenty-foot-equivalent units in March, bringing their throughput into positive territory for the first quarter of 2016, with first-quarter volumes up 0.9 percent on the same period last year to 35.4 million TEUs.

China’s main ports registered a slight drop in container throughput in February when compared with the same month last year with year-over-year volumes falling 0.8 percent to just over 10.3 million 20-foot-equivalent units.

China’s major ports registered a slight increase in year-over-year container throughput in January. The country’s top 20 ports handled over 15.6 million 20-foot-equivalent units between them in the first month of 2016, an increase of 0.5 percent over the same month the previous year.
