PORT OF GUANGZHOU (NANSHA) UP IN 2018 GLOBAL PORT RANKINGS

JOC Staff |

Port of Guangzhou commands the number 5th Slot on the Top Global Ports with a 2018 record-breaking performance of 21.92 Million Teus, up 7.6% vs 2017. Port of Nansha, the only Deep-Water Port of the Guangzhou Port, contributed more than 70% of the total volume in Port of Guangzhou.

Port of Guangzhou business has grown consistently across all their ports especially their Deep-Water Port, Nansha. Moving up two slots in the Global Port Rankings reinforces their value proposition with room to expand further.

“Propelling two slots in the global rankings to number 5 is a great accomplishment, noted Nansha Song, Vice General Manager. “Our team has been very focused on the commercial side of the business engaging new customers and delivering results.”

With new initiatives underway, such as On Dock Rail access, state of the art Cold Storage Facility, completing their 4th Terminal, and expanding global offices, Guangzhou Port (Nansha) is well positioned to move further. Additionally, expensive cross boarder truck moves, and heavy congestion has enabled Nansha to capitalize on the trend of manufacturing moving and shipping from the Western Side of the Pearl River Delta.

“We truly appreciate the new support from many BCOs, 3pls, NVOs, and Shippers Associations...said John Painter, Pres/CEO of Guangzhou (Nansha) Port America...with over 60 Worldwide Services, yet only

3 North America Services to the West Coast we see the carrier community becoming more active in studying their options for additional calls and a much needed East Coast call based upon our growing volumes to North America.
