Much reduced winds cause some power outages, no flooding

A tropical storm warning remained in effect for Gulf of Mexico coastal waters from Grand Isle, La., to the Aucilla River, Fla., Tuesday morning.

Poorly defined Tropical Storm Ida made landfall at Dauphin Island, Alabama at 5:40 a.m. with maximum sustained winds of about 45 miles per hour and higher gusts, according to the National Hurricane Center. Some power outages but no serious flooding or damage have been reported thus far, according to regional news sources. Ida is expected to turn eastward and weaken further as it moves inland.
