Michael O. Miller Joins Genesee & Wyoming as Chief Commercial Officer, North America

GREENWICH, Conn., Sep 15, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) (NYSE: GWR) today announced that Michael O. Miller has joined the company as Chief Commercial Officer, North America. The newly created position is based in GWI's office in Jacksonville, Fla., and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Miller has more than 15 years of logistics and transportation industry experience, most recently as General Manager of Norfolk Southern's Modalgistics Supply Chain Solutions. Prior to Norfolk Southern, he was Vice President Strategic Development of Derivion Corp. and held logistics-related positions with Georgia-Pacific and Roadway Express. Mr. Miller holds a B.S. in industrial engineering and an M.S. in business management from North Carolina State University.

Michael has spent the last decade improving customers' supply chain efficiencies through rail, transload and intermodal service, said Jack Hellmann, President and CEO. As the scope of GWI's North American operations continues to grow, he is ideally suited to strengthen our customer focus, our industrial development activities and our relationships with Class I partners.

GWI owns and operates short line and regional freight railroads in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands. Operations currently include 62 railroads organized in nine regions, with approximately 6,000 miles of owned and leased track and approximately 3,400 additional miles under track access arrangements. GWI provides rail service at 16 ports in North America and Europe and performs contract coal loading and railcar switching for industrial customers.
