SAN MATEO, Calif., and SHANGHAI, China — March 3, 2010 — In another indication that Menlo Worldwide Logistics is sharpening its focus on the Chinese market, Menlo has named veteran industry leader Gary So to the position of managing director, North Asia, responsible for mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. “We are focusing on building up Menlo’s already extensive transportation network in China, building on our team of local experts, and introducing Menlo’s outstanding warehousing and transportation solutions to a broader range of industries,” says Hong Kong native So.
An industry professional with more than 23 years of experience in Asia, So is well-positioned to lead Menlo as it develops locally designed solutions for the China market that are both operationally effective and economically competitive. So’s rich experience includes serving as director of China start-up operations for Kerry Logistics, as a business development executive with NYK Logistics and a business process improvement consultant with LLA Pacific (now merged with PricewaterhouseCoopers). His earliest positions were with Lufthansa German Airlines and TNT Logistics, where he focused on risk management, network management and strategic business development.
A graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with an MBA from the University of Warwick (UK), So was an alternate member of LOGSCOUNCIL (the official logistics consultative body appointed by the Hong Kong SAR government) and a project member of LOGSCOUNCIL’s
“e-Logistics Project.” He is a founding member of the Hong Kong chapter of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and is active in logistics industry groups on the mainland.
