Matheny Voted Chairman of Canaveral Port Authority Board

PORT CANAVERAL, FL— January 27, 2011 – Titusville attorney Joe Matheny received the unanimous support of his colleagues to serve as this year’s chairman during election of officers held during the first Port Authority Board meeting of 2011. Matheny has served on the Commission from District 2 since 1998 and owns a law firm.

Elected as vice chairman of the Port Authority Board was R. Bruce Deardoff, a Merritt Island resident and owner of several automotive dealerships in Florida. He was elected to the Board in November 2010 from District 4.

Cocoa Beach resident Thomas Tom Weinberg will serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the Board. Elected from District 5, he served as chief of staff for former U.S. Senator Mel Martinez and has a distinguished career in government.

Also serving on the Board is Commissioner Jerry Allender, elected to the Port Authority in August 2010 to represent District 1. He is a resident of Titusville, where he practices law. Allender previously served as a Port Commissioner from 1983 to 1994.

Commissioner Frank Sullivan completes the Port Authority Board. He was elected to the Commission in November 2010 from District 3. The lifelong Cocoa resident is a third-generation citrus grower and shipper in Brevard County.
