Mark-It Services, a world-leader in reefer management, announced today that the company had successfully deployed its WAM-D, wireless asset management system, at APL’s Global Gateway Central Terminal in Oakland, California.
APL’s combination wheeled and racked reefer depot operation was the perfect match for implementing Mark-It’s revolutionary WAM-D device and technology.
For the first time, Mark-It’s WAM-D technology gave APL remote control of reefers passing through the terminal facility – all from its office desk or laptop in a monitoring van or service truck. There was no need for APL’s reefer monitoring crew to climb-up ladders or into the reefer rack to check functionality.
With the WAM-D’s successful launch, APL discovered a tremendous potential for the Mark-It technology, which will be tapped and utilized for future reefer operations. WAM-D is a remarkable, compact, high volume, low cost, data acquisition control device with super efficient power management. It consists of a detachable wireless device (WAM-D tag) that connects directly to the reefer’s external data port. While connected, the WAM-D provides full two-way communications with the reefer micro so the terminal has full visibility and control of that reefer from the comfort and safety of their office or traveling with them via a laptop.
The WAM-D’s user software application has a host of screens and reports needed to manage and control reefers and delivers all the important information such as:
-- Container ID
-- Container serial number
-- Software version
-- Controller Mode
-- Set Point
-- Return Temp
-- Supply Temp
-- Ambient
-- #Alarms in Queue
-- Most Recent Active alarm
-- Reset Alarms
-- Change set point.
Mark-It Services’ WAM-D remote wireless management technology gives Terminal/Vessel Operators a newly found independence as well as the costsavings they require in this business-critical economy. It also provides:
-- Operational Visibility & Control
-- Alarm Reporting & Downloads
-- Asset Management & Utilization
-- Remote Pre-Trip, Set Temp change and Alarm clearing.
