As long as the liner operators pin their hopes on GRIs, Conferences and other ways to force customers to cure their woes, the more likely the margins will remain slim for the carriers. With payouts to terminals at each end of a voyage of $300+ per load, it is hard to be sympathetic when cost controls are not in place. But perhaps it may be due to the lines having equity in the marine terminals? It is time the carriers learned what other industries have: cost management!
