The Journal of Commerce Online - News Story
Full-load handling charge starts, Feb.1 from UK, March 1 from other European ports

Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it plans to impose a full-load terminal-handling charge on top of present rates as of March 1 for cargoes moving from all ports in Northern Europe, including Scandinavia and the Baltic countries, to any destination in the Far East.

MSC said the charge is applicable to cargo leaving the UK from Feb. 1.

It said the charge applies to all cargoes including waste paper, plastic, metal scrap, etc. The carrier said it is applying the charge “in order to secure more transparency in the market.”
