China-Long Beach express service keeps Ningbo, Shanghai

Matson Navigation Co. is adding the port of Xiamen to its China-Long Beach express service. Matson's service from Ningbo and Shanghai will remain unchanged.

The China-Long Beach service differs from most trans-Pacific liner services in that it calls at the domestic ports of Honolulu and Guam westbound from the mainland. The vessels then proceed to China and the eastbound service carries U.S. imports from China to Long Beach.

Matson reports that since the express service began in 2006 vessels have maintained on-time arrivals in Long Beach and next-day cargo availability on the West Coast. Also, Matson Integrated Logistics offers one-stop intermodal connections on the mainland.
