Maersk Hikes India-South America Rates

Carrier also change port rotation on service between Southeast and North Asia

Maersk Line will seek a general freight rate increase on cargo moving on its services from the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to South America West Coast and Central America (excluding Cuba).
 
Effective Sept. 1, the planned increase will be $250 per 20-foot and $500 per 40-foot equivalent unit.
 
For shipments to Cuba, the Danish carrier will apply an increase of $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU, also as of Sept. 1.

Separately, Maersk said it is changing the port rotation of its IA-6 intra-Asia service connecting Southeast and North Asia.
 
The weekly service will now add a call at Xiamen, China, on the northbound leg, replacing the existing call at Keelung, Taiwan.
 
The revised northbound coverage will be Singapore, Da Nang, Haiphong, Hong Kong, Yantian, Xiamen, Osaka and Kobe.
 
The first vessel under the new schedule will be the Dolphin Strain, expected to depart Xiamen on Aug. 2.
