Cap Jervis, first vessel ever christened in Callao, deployed to Asia

Hamburg Sud, the German liner company that specializes in the north-south trades, christened a new container ship on Monday in Callao, Peru.

It was the first vessel ever christened in Callao. The company named it “Cap Jervis” after a location in South Australia, approximately 100 kilometers south of Adelaide.

Hamburg Sud is No. 14 for exports and No. 17 for imports on The JOC Top 40 Container Lines.

The ship, which has a capacity of 4,800 20-foot equivalent container units, has been deployed in Hamburg Sud’s ASPA service between Asia and Mexico and the West Coast of South America.

The Cap Jervis was delivered in July at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Korea.
