CSCL Celebrates 10 Years Serving U.S. West Coast

China Shipping Container Line celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first West Coast calls with a commitment to customers to adjust to changing economic times in order to meet their service requirements.

Li Shao De, chairman and president of China Shipping Group, told an anniversary celebration in Los Angeles that the patterns of world trade and economic growth are changing, and carriers must adapt to these changes in order to meet customers' needs.

Li said he urges China Shipping managers to stay current with the service requirements of customers, especially during the current economic downturn. "I won't be satisfied with you until the customers are," Li tells his managers.

This week marked the 10th anniversary of the arrival of the vessel Trade Apollo at the ports of Los Angeles and Seattle. The 2,500-TEU vessel was the first ship to participate in China Shipping's newly inaugurated trans-Pacific service.

Today China Shipping operates 150 container vessels in its global network and carries about 500,000 TEUs annually. Vessel sizes range from 4,250 TEUs to 9,600 TEUs.

China Shipping over the past decade has grown to become one of the top 10 carriers in the global liner trades.
