Wallenius Wilhelmsen Wins Third U.S. Honda Contract

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics won the contract to manage vehicle processing and outbound yard management at Honda’s plant in Lincoln, Alabama.

The joint Swedish-Norwegian car carrier and logistics management company said the contract is the third it holds with Honda, including operations at facilities in East Liberty, Ohio, and Greensburg, Indiana.

It is also the 10th automotive production plant for which WWL oversees vehicle processing in North America.

WWL is expected to assume responsibility on May 1 for the operations, which include technical services, vehicle releasing, distribution and rail loading.

The Honda plant has the capacity to produce up to 250,000 units annually, including the Odyssey, Ridgeline, Pilot and Accord models. Approximately 60 employees will transfer to WWL, which will provide them with training and operations certification.

WWL also provides some ocean transportation and terminal services for Honda.
