United Arab Shipping Company will apply a general rate increase on eastbound cargo from North Europe to Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.
Starting April 1, the planned increase will be $100 per container.
The Middle East carrier said “current rate levels are unsustainable and cannot cover increased operating costs.”
UASC will also hike its rates by $100 per 20-foot container and $150 per 40-foot container, effective April 1, on shipments from North Europe to destinations in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf region.
The Subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
