Mediterranean Shipping Company will apply a general rate increase on westbound trade from India to North Europe and the Mediterranean, starting Jan. 23.
The planned increase will be $200 per 20-foot equivalent unit.
The Geneva-based carrier imposed a $225 per TEU rate increase on Asia-Europe-Mediterranean services, which took effect Jan. 1.
MSC’s move follows a $100 per-TEU GRI notice by Middle East carrier United Arab Shipping, effective Jan. 15, and a $200 per-TEU increase by German carrier Hapag-Lloyd, effective Feb. 1, on the same trade
routes.
