Smit Internationale, the global marine services company, completed the acquisition of all shares of Minette Bay Ship Docking, a tug operator based in Prince Rupert, Canada, the company said.
The Dutch company did not say how much it is paying for Minette which operates three tugs in Prince Rupert and provides ship docking services for Ridley Island Coal Terminal.
Smit, which announced the acquisition earlier in 2009, has a Vancouver, B.C.-based business with 15 tugs providing mooring and unmooring services along the West Coast of Canada up to Alaska.
Rotterdam-based Smit is one of the world's biggest tug companies with a fleet of over 150 vessels operating in Europe, North and South America and Asia.
Smit, which is also active in marine salvage and heavy lift shipping, accepted a $1.95 billion all cash takeover offer in November from Royal Boskalis Westminster of the Netherlands, the world's biggest dredging company.
