Pasha Hawaii contracted with VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, Miss., for construction of a second pure car/truck carrier for use in the ocean carrier’s West Coast-Hawaii service.
The ship’s base price is $144 million; delivery is projected for the fall of 2013. The contract includes an option for a sister ship priced at $137 million. Pasha said it is negotiating with several sources for financing.

The new ship will allow Pasha Hawaii to expand its West Coast-Hawaii service to weekly. The carrier’s first vessel, the Jean Anne, entered service in March 2005. Pasha Hawaii carries vehicles, yachts, heavy machinery, and oversized cargo.
The newly ordered vessel will be the second roll-on, roll-off car/truck carrier built by VT Halter for Pasha Hawaii based on a design by Croatia’s Uljanik Shipyard.
