MSC to Raise Trans-Atlantic Import Rates Twice

Mediterranean Shipping Company posted a two-stage general rate increase on Monday for cargos imported from ports in North Europe and the Mediterranean to the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The carrier said it will implement a Dec. 1 increase of $250 on 20-foot containers and $250 on 40-foot containers arriving from Europe and the Mediterranean to Canada and to the U.S. Middle West via Canada.

MSC also said it will increase the freight rate on Dec. 1 on imports to Mexico from North Europe and the Mediterranean by $250 per 20-foot container and $350 per 40-foot container.

The Geneva-based carrier said it will implement another increase of $400 per container on Jan. 1 on all cargo imported into the United States from North Europe and the Mediterranean.
