Maersk Hikes Europe-Asia Rates

Maersk Line announced it will implement a commodity general rate increase for the trade moving from Europe to Asia.

Effective April 7, freight rates would rise by $75 per forty-foot container for shipments from the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Finland, France, Belgium, Ireland, Russia, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Denmark and Estonia to Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

“The increase applies to all commodity-based cargoes on the eastbound Europe to Asia trade,” the Danish carrier stated.

Maersk, the world’s largest ocean carrier, said the rate restoration is necessary to operate services with the high level of reliability.
