Jim Brieger, 76, a longtime executive in the maritime industry, died on Feb. 4 in Roanoke, Va., from heart-related issues.
Brieger had 40 years of industry experience in senior management roles for ocean carriers such as Sea-Land, Crowley Maritime, Westwood Shipping Lines, Amazon Line and Century Bridge Container Line. He also held senior-level positions with steamship agencies DSR-Senator Agency, a subsidiary of Inchcape Shipping Services, and DG Agency.
Originally from Houston, he served as a member of the U.S. Army in the special intelligence division before being honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in business.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years and four children.
