Argentina has been hit with a 24-hour general strike affecting ports, airports, trains and road transportation.
Inchcape Shipping Services said the one-day strike was expected to keep all ships at anchorage or berth, and was expected to involve immigration, customs, health and agriculture staff, as well as port administration employees.
ISS Argentina confirmed that as with previous strikes, main roads and highways will be blocked in Buenos Aires, including key access routes to the city.
“We have reported on a number of local and regional strikes during 2012, but this is the first strike affecting the whole country and its transport infrastructure,” said Francisco Villagran, the company’s regional operations manager for the Americas. “ISS Argentina will continue to monitor developments on behalf of ship owners and operators and will keep customers updated.”
