Hapag-Lloyd plans to boost its rates on various trade lanes, effective Aug. 15, as part of a new rate restoration program.
From East Asia to the east coast of South America, rates on all cargo will increase by $500 per 20-foot container.
From East Asia to the Caribbean and Panama, the German ocean carrier will apply an increase of $560 per 20-foot and $800 per 40-foot container.
All shipments from East Asia to Mexico, Central America and the west coast of South America will attract an increase of $500 per 20-foot container.
The carrier will push its rates up by $175 per 20-foot container on trades from the U.S. and Canada to Australia and New Zealand.
Separately, Hapag-Lloyd said it will implement a general rate increase on cargo shipped from South America and the Caribbean to North Europe, starting Sept. 1. The planned increase will be $400 per 20-foot container.
