FedEx Trade Networks, the forwarding arm of FedEx, is trying to expand its reach into ocean shipping with a new forwarding service for products with a flexible delivery schedule.
The service addition is part of an aggressive expansion plan for FedEx Trade Networks, which has opened 38 stations since 2008, including new offices across Asia and Europe.
The mid-tier new International Direct Priority Ocean service will funnel less-than-containerload shipments through the less-than-truckload network of sister company FedEx Freight and full-containerload shipments to U.S. destinations.
The new service is complemented by FedEx's International Direct Economy service for traditional freight forwarding, and its rapid Fedex International DirectDistribution Ocean service that takes imports into the United States beyond DCs to end users.
That priority service is for goods moving from Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong through the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
