DOT Gives Extra $2.3 Million to Maritime Academies

America’s six state maritime academies will receive an additional $2.3 million, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration announced recently.

The $392,913 given to each academy is available from the sale of obsolete vessels from the Maritime Administration’s National Defense Reserve Fleet and budget savings by the Maritime Administration.

The academies receiving funding are the Great Lakes Maritime Academy, the Maine Maritime Academy, the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, California Maritime Academy, SUNY Maritime College and Texas Maritime Academy.
